The occursus reading loop returns on THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th, 6pm.
The first Loop will take place in seminar room 117, (first floor) in the Jessop Building, University of Sheffield, Leavygreave Road (the old Jessop Hospital, next to Jessop West). The idea is that we’ll discuss in this first session where we’d like to locate the group more permanently – Site, a pub, etc.
You can find a location map of Sheffield university here: http://www.shef.ac.uk/visitors/mapsandtravel/university
Due to popular demand, we have moved the group from a Wednesday evening slot to Thursdays, although we’ll be playing it by ear and seeing how the new time and day suits everyone. It may be that we go back to Wednesdays – we’ll see when we meet next week.
In the first Loop, we’ll be reading the first chapter of Jacques Rancière’s The Ignorant Schoolmaster, which can be accessed here:
In the second Loop, we’ll be looking at Nicolas Bourriaud’s Postproduction: Culture as Screenplay: How Art Reprograms the World, which can be accessed here: http://www9.georgetown.edu/faculty/irvinem/theory/Bourriaud-Postproduction2.pdf
The first occursus book – a collection of responses by artists, writers and researchers to certain themes which emerged through the course of the last series of Reading Loop – is currently in production and scheduled for release in late October. We plan to produce a second book in 2012 based on this new series, so please come along and get involved! We look forward to seeing you all again very soon!
