A new project in Shalesmoor: occursus/plastiCities in collaboration with SKINN

A new project in Shalesmoor

Dr Amanda Crawley Jackson and Dr Matt Cheeseman from the University of Sheffield are working in collaboration with SKINN and architects from the School of Architecture at the University of Sheffield to create a new park in Sheffield, on the site of some waste ground in Shalesmoor. The project is the latest collaborative venture by  occursus/plastiCities.

The site is situated between Matthew Street and Doncaster Street.

We hope that the proposed park will bring together architects, creative practitioners, students and members of the local community to create an active space for creative production, open air talks, performances and other interventions.

The first phase of the proposed park project has received the generous support of Arts Enterprise at the University of Sheffield.

We are now looking for volunteers and partners to help make this exciting project come together. We would be particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience or skills in gardening, construction, urban design or planning. We have a long way to go…. The Council have given us an agreement in principle to use the site, but there are all kinds of things we need to do now in order to make this project happen, including the usual planning permissions.

If you are interested in taking part, please contact Amanda Crawley Jackson – a.j.jackson@sheffield.ac.uk
